This is made by taking history, eliciting physical signs and detection of acetonuria after exclusion of all other organic causes of vomiting. Differential diagnosis: In a severe case, there are dehydration, jaundice, myocardial degeneration, peripheral circulatory failure, retinal haemorrhage, cerebral symptoms, polyneuritis, oliguria, and anuria. Finally a state of delirium followed by coma and death may occur.
